Anyone know of anything like a map editor or something along this sort of line? I am interested in creating content for the game if there is anything I can work with.

As far as I know, there were never an official tool for map making. Sad, really. Maybe, Night Dive studios will make something akin, but I highly doubt it. Would be great though.
Who is Night Dive Studios, sorry I am not aware of them. I was thinking about just sending a few emails to people that were on the development team on the original.

Simple, those are the guys that acquired the rights for the Metal Fatigue and re-released it here, on GOG. So if you want to approach anyone on this subject - I suggest you contact them.

Those people almost certainly no longer have access to the source code, nor is it likely they can remember how to do something like it. It was first released 18 years ago and the development studio (Zono) no longer exists.
Okay I will send out a few emails and post on here what happens. Give me a week!
My thought abouts this.

GOG never asked the source code and development kit to the formers devs.

They just download a pirate copy.

Nothing has been fixed.

Acording to and old interview, the level editor exist but it wasnt released because it need more work to be friendly with standart users.

Designer of MF here...

Here's what I can tell you at this point:

- There is a level editor called Cartographer, but it was never made with end-users in mind. The game was also not designed to be extensible without recompiling, which really makes it difficult to support custom user maps. Any map made would have to replace one of the game's existing maps. As such, to truly support custom maps some serious work on the game itself would need to be done.

- The version released on GOG, as far as I know, is the same binaries that came on the original CD's with a wrapper placed around them to make it work on current Windows. So, no changes from the original release. This is because at the time no source code was known to exist.

- Some source code has since been found, but it is a backup made about a year before release, which is likely not feature complete and probably full of bugs, too. Tapes of the gold master code have also been found, but it's an ongoing and expensive process to see if the files can be restored. Nightdive owns the rights to the game now, so they'll have to decide how much time they can commit to any new work on the game.

I'll continue to update the forum with any news, but keep in mind I'm not affiliated with Nightdive at all, so I don't know what they've got planned nor am I informed of decisions they make.
Some extra info:

i found a wall of text dated to 2017 it say that Jeff Fort "MIGHT" still have the source code.
