I've been playing this game for about 2 hours straight now and I have had ZERO problems. I am running Vista home, I have a crummy Intel 965 graphics card and an intel Processor 3.0 ghz. I have had no problems or errors running the game at all, other than it wont recognize the T&L hard ware and allow me to boost the texture res. I have just completed the area where you posses a rat and go across a maze of meat and bones. Outside some cops and chots are fighting and when I activate the lift, the door at the top crashes the game to the desktop EVERYTIME.

I played in safe mode, got past the door. Now everytime I play the game in normal mode it crashes, What a waste of money, I am pissed. There are no work arounds for this thing.

i get the same problem, unfortunately i dont have a fix for it, but i hope it is some small comfort knowing that you are not the only one who gets this area.

For reference though, i believe it is the "commander console room" just before you get a briefing of some kind.

could be related to a cutscene or something?
I'm experiencing the same problem on Windows Vista SP2 x86 (32 bit), everytime I trigger the door I get a crash-to-desktop.

note : I experienced similar crashes (one or two times) and a freeze once during these "F5" cutscenes.

I'll try the safemode, see if I can switch back to normal after that...

GoG should work on this one, or at least put a warning or something. We shouldn't have to use "-x" or download a Glide Wrapper all by ourselves to simply launch it, GoG should includes it in the package in the first place.
Ha ha ! I see this one's always a pain in the ass... I re-downloaded it a few months ago and couldn't get it to work properly (horribly slow framerate) then I uninstalled it. Tried again today and I can't even get it to start (error message when I click on the launch icon)... So I think I'll just give up on this one, and it pisses me off because it's one of my favourite games :(

I agree with Klem ( tiens, un frenchy ;) ) : this game really needs some more work, I remember playing it on my Win XP (GoG version) and it worked better than the CD version I had before (my CD version had no sound during FMV, no musics and a lot of missing audio files) but there were still major bugs (for me, it was sound/graphic issues that I never managed to fix).

The staff should definitely warn that this game still has some bugs that can affect the gameplay or even prevent from playing it ! Personnally, I think they should simply remove it from their game catalogue in order to work a little bit on it. Maybe we could contact them via e-mail, but I guess it's already been done before...
As suggested in this topic, try to disable the "Pre-load cached files" option, in the video options menu. It worked for me.

Thank you, I just was going to initiate a new thread about this same issue, same door, same crash hahaha, google ftw, +cookies to you
I just tried out the D3D shortcut that comes with the game and this door glitch didn't happened for me.
Update

it eventually crashed and now the D3D one won't get past the intro now.
What might be helpful is if someone provides save games after you reach a new area

1) Make a shortcut of the MessiahD3D.exe on the desktop.
2) Add this on your scout

"C:\Program Files\Shiny\Messiah\MESSIAHD3D.EXE" -i -x +!

3) Disable "Pre-load cached files" in options

Tested on Win7. You can get through the door now.

Thanks for that, was stuck crashing at this same place using the D3D.exe and that fixed it. Cheers
