Man, I played the original on my 3DO and loved it. A really zany, wacky arcade racer. Not my usual fare, but I liked it. Never thought I would see it again. It's worth $6 for the nostalgia rush alone! ;)
This is a great "I've got 1/2 hour to kill" kind of game. You can just pick it up and play and have fun. The graphics must be dated (I have not downlaoded it yet) but who cares? It's the price of a burger!
There was a lot of experimentation and originality going into games during this time. In game video was new (and primitive) but often used to better effect than in modern games. Lance Boyle really is a hoot!
