Just wanted to add my 2 cents worth here. I might end up googling the controls or how to change them. I tried to change them out to no avail. The included documentation for Megarace 1 is so vague that it might scare off newer players.

the problem with megarace 1 is that the informations about the controls is stored inside saved games. When you start the game there seem to be no default settings.
It is a pain in the ass but you have to asign controls every time you start the game in the game menu (the yellow button in car selection screen) :/
