Just entered chapter 2 escaping the town into the woods. Fum tells me I need to research another pet-thing and to walk through the woods to find them. First there is a log in the way, which he says to find another way around, then there's a man-eating plant blocking another way. A pretty simple puzzle of stepping on three flowers to lower his defense, but the problem is I have only one pet and no way to research the second to summon it. I can't leave the forest because the only way out other than through it is back to the town I left.

Are there supposed to be scobrions or whatever around here, or is there something else I'm missing?
