I just re-downloaded the game and have been experiencing ^^^ this error message prior to the setup, right after closing the game (and setting the res to max). Not only is there nothing to select in the launcher afterwards, but recalling the previous installation, there were more graphical driver options. I possibly installed a patch that enabled more drivers, but I can't find any at the present via Google. Nothing here on support helps or addresses the issue. What happened to my MDK 2?

EDIT: I've reinstalled the game, setting the installer to xp2 compatibility and run as admin. I then ran the game with ImageCFG to run on one core. I entered the game with the default setup (1024x768) and the intro/free fall just doesn't look right (wrong res, even the colors are off). When I attempt to change the res to max, it gives me this black strip at the side of my screen.

I came across this same problem. All I did was launch directly to the game and not through the launcher and it worked perfectly, the same as the first time it set it up.

I'm having this issue as well. SOMEWHERE there seems to be a configuration file or some entry that gets corrupted when mdk2main.exe crashes (with my setup upon quitting the game). MDK2Main.exe still starts though, though with the same setting as used previously, without the possibility of changing the video mode. What also works is renaming the folder where MDK2 is located. Thirdly, I got my resolutions back when I set MDK2.exe to "Compabitility mode" (Windows XP Service Pack 3). I'm not aware of any permanent solution so far as I don't have a guarantee not to see the same error later at some point right now.

I am having this issue now.

The first time I installed it, there were drivers and resolution options. The second time I tried to launch it a dialog box came up that said No Valid Display Modes Detected.

I am not sure what to do here. Can anyone help me?

This worked for me too. Just start the game through the file called mdk2Main and it works fine.
To fix the problem and be able to launch the game through GOG Galaxy:

- Rename mdk2.exe to something else, mdk2a.exe for example
- Rename mdk2Main.exe to mdk2.exe

And that's it, now you'll be able to launch the game without any issues.

I'm having similar issues. I have been playing the game for several times now without issues. Today, something happened because after the latest windows 10 updates I get the "no valid display modes detected". I tried to reinstall the game without uninstalling, no deal. The game starts by running the mdk2main.exe directly though - in full res.

Maybe trying to uninstall and reinstall from scratch would fix it, not sure. Have to copy savegames before that though.
