Back in the day as Master of Orion 3 was about to be launched, Quicksilver Software managed to get a hold of a copy of the prototype to the original Master of Orion, and managed to get Steve Barcia's permission to post it on their site, downloadable for free (here). I think this would be a wonderful extra for either MoO 1+2 or 3; was this ever discussed between GOG and the copyright holders? One would think that since it's already being distributed for free on the Web, it wouldn't be hard to negotiate, but more certain things have already fallen through before...
Cool stuff

I was about to make a new post about this. Glad I did a search. I have this game as well. Downloaded it from moo3.com back in the day. The prototype is a complete game from what I can tell, however I never really played a full game though. I agree. This would make a neat "Extra" to bundle with the the first two games. Might be something cool to do as we follow moo4's development.
Thanks for the info, but the download link on the side seems not to work?

Do you have the same problem?

The link on quicksilver site is outdated. Here's new one: http://www.fileplanet.com/44749/40000/fileinfo/Star-Lords-Demo

Dunno how much longer though as there's "Note: FilePlanet is no longer being updated and is in the process of being archived. " notice at top of the page. Then again you can just google "Star Lords dos" to find alternate download site.

Thanks

I did download it ages ago from underdogs.....but as I have a new system all my bookmarks are gone.....and just doing a search can result in a bad situation ;)
This is an excellent game even in its unpolished state. Anyone who who wants to taste the spirit of Master of Orion before buying it, dont hesitate to do it. This is my second favorite game of all time (after chess).
