I'm playing MOO 1 on an Asus Vivo note 8 inch tablet. With full 8.1 and 32 bit system.

It works actually pretty well. Other than the mouse is a little tricky cause I'm using a sylus.

The question I have is there are long black screen pauses after a turn where it goes to a cut scene. I can't remember if this is a normal part of the game or not.

If there is no cut scene like bombing or race audience scene, then it goes straight to the next turn.

Is this normal?
Have you tried increasing CPU cycles (I assume you use DOSBox even on a tablet)?
I have but I'm not sure it is working. Anytime I minimize the screen to see if I'm actually changing the cycle times it stays small and I end up having to cancel out the game and start over.

I had to add different keys to dosbox to increase the cycle time but I know it works using a bluetooth keyboard.

I wish there was a way to verify this while the game was actually running.

Edit the .conf file directly and set it to 7000 cycles at least. It defaults to 3000, which is too slow, when set to auto, the default.

I appreciate the response, please bear with me. I'm very new at this. I'm assuming you mean the dos box configuration file? And do you have instructions on how to modify the config file?

Thanks
You need to edit the game specific config file, which should be named dosboxMOO1.conf
You can open and edit it with any text editor, like Notepad.
Fine the "Cycles=" line under the "[cpu]" header. I don't know what he default value is, but on my system I changed it to "cycles=fixed 9000".
That did exactly what I needed it to do. Thank you.

I can pretty much play this game on the go now with my stylus. Can rename anything unless I have a BT keyboard connected but that's okay.

Thanks for the help.

I am also trying to solve this problem on a PC and I don't know where to find the conf file. Can anyone help with that?

The config file is in the Master of Orion folder inside the Master of Orion 1 + 2 directory.
