Decided to try MoO3 again I know its the worse in the series but it was my introduction. Anyway. 32bit OS and the -w didnt work,

Supposedly there was a mod for it but the link just went to some crap about online jobs as javascript, looks like a dodgy redirect to me.

I have read about the tropical patch but I only want the windowed mode, nothing else. Suggestions? (apart from dont bother with MoO3)

Not sure, but probably you need to download & install MoO3 Patcher and then download WindowMode patch. Because the patches are designed to work with the Patcher, it is necessary for them to be located in the same directory as the Patcher itself. The recommended location is in a subdirectory off your main MoO3 directory. Now run the Patcher and install the patch.

edit: there's also MoO3 DLL file, which is a requirement for some of the patches, but no idea if it is necessary in this case.
