I understand the MOO3 has a pretty bad reputation and I'll probably not get an answer to this issue, but whenever I attempt to play as the Silicoids I almost always get the "DirectX Surface Unavailable" error on game start. Every now and again the game will actually start, but then I will get the same error after several turns. I've attempted to play as other species and do not get this error at all, getting as far as 50 turns with Humans. This leads me to believe that this error is somehow linked to playing as Silicoids. Does anyone have any idea how to fix it? I always played as Silicoids back in the day and feel really irked that I'm locked out of playing as them. I've tried pretty much every patch I can find using the Moo3Patcher, Just a fresh vanilla install from the GoG version, the unofficial 1.2.5 patch.... nothing works. Silicoids always get the DirectX Crash.
