Hi Folks,

At the moment GOG has MOO3 on sale. My dilemma is I actually have the original cd. Since I'm finally getting back to some of my old favorite games MOO is the first batch I thought of.

Other than sending money GOG's way, is there any advantage to a new purchase (especially since the original only cast me 5 USD back in the day.

It's been so long since I've played it I don't remember if there's any drm or not.

Advice?

Thanks in advance

Play FreeOrion instead as it is kind of similar with space lanes but more fun.

...or Play one of the first two games.

I only have MoO3 here from GOG so do not know about the discs. I have been trying a couple of times to start MoO3 and just feel twenty years older within minutes despite fan patch and mods. The scale is grand and that is slightly impressive but there are many things that then are oppressive

GOG version is patched up to 1.25 (though you'd want to roll over some fan patches and mods anyway), and set for working on any modern configurations. And you'll have a digital copy of game distributive in your library, and you can backup it in any way you like.

Safe this, there's no other advantage.

I don't remember (since it's been almost two decades) whether the CD version requires you to insert the first CD each time you want to run the game, or if you only need the CD to install it.

With the Gog version you can install and run on a machine without a CD drive or with a broken CD drive.
