Um, still a no go.

While it seems simple enough we are getting some sort of problem where dosbox tunnelling failed to connect.

Is this the router? Is it because he is running Windows Vista and I am running Windows 7?

Has anyone else run into this problem, or do I have to run it in compatability mode? EVerything else seems to be going perfectly.
Ok, I now believe that I have to change one of the command lines in the dosbox host side .conf file from "startserver" to "startserver MYPORT#" which I port forewarded past my router.

So, when I do this, it says I don't have permission to change the file.

HELP? lol. How do you change .conf files for dosbox

The problem is that you've installed the game in Program Files folder, which you don't have permissions to change. 2 Options.
1) Copy the file on the desktop, modify it, save, and copy it back, accepting the UAC prompt that will pop up.
2) Run notepad as administrator and modify the file.

Best thing though is to not install any game, GOG.com or otherwise in a UAC controlled folder (aka Program Files).
I found a better way. I right clicked the Game Name folder (Masters of Orion 2) and changed all permissions for my user name.

Best way to do it, though I'd suggest changing the GOG.com folder to full permission, so you don't encounter similar problems with any other game.
Thanks JMich,

I'm such a derp that I didn't even think to take care of all of the problems simultaneously, forever and ever. lol
Hi! Did anyone manage to connect from a MAC to a PC yet?
I tried it for a few hours with and without firewall, with forwarded Port 213 (TCP and UDP on FritzBox) with MAC and PC as Host/Client but it can't connect. :(

When I create a Game on my Mac and then launch it a second time I can join the game but the PC can't.

/UPDATE: It's working! I had to add the Port number after the IP (213) and I can join a PC host with my MAC now. :)

how did you add the port after the ip
To add the port number 213 after the IP on the mac, just use a space like so: 192.1.1.1 213"

if you want to host on the mac, just set up IPv4 Port Mapping (also called port forwarding) so that the Public UDP Port 213 maps to Private UDP Port 2130.

Hopefully this thread is still alive.

I have the GOG download version but I cannot find the "network" folder anywhere in the download.

Any help?

"Network" there is not a folder, the poster meant "launch Moo2 game, go Multiplayer section in game menu, and chose Network there", I hope. As its the way how it work.

Renamed to Multiplayer in the start menu with the later installers.
