In case anyone is curious, I just reinstalled the game on Windows 10, installed the suggested patches, and it works great!

Following the suggested procedure in this post:

Following those instructions, I installed the "TROPICAL" mod, then the graphics mod mentioned in the replies.

Thankx to ALL THOSE, albeit at this late date (September 2022), that provided the effort needed in making the patches, and informing us how to make it all proper. THANK YOU!
