In MOOII I often get a crash in the tactical battle screen, especially if I have a lot of ships or the battle lasts a long time.
Does anyone know how to solve this? It is repeatable from a save game that I saved the turn before.
I am not certain but this may be more likely to happen if I move one of my ships into the very corner of the battle screen.
My version is 1.40b23

Any help would be appreciated.

This is not black hole generator related, right? I remember back in the day, there was a bug with that tech that could crash a battle, but I think that did finally get patched.

Nope, no black holes. Just missiles and low grade beam weapons.
If it is repeatable can you upload the save file? It may help working out why. Which star the combat is going to happen around would be good too.

One other option: does anyone have warp dissipator tech? The game can become unhappy if a ship retreats with now-inactive warp dissipators having been involved in the battle.
Garran, first time i hear about such crash, involving warps.
But there is 100% crash if you retreat a ship from a last square of the battlefield, from left edge (and occasionally from other edges too). Thus you should never retreat from last square.

Ahh, that would be it! I often retreat to the last square to run away from missiles. I'll have to be more careful in future.
I guess there is no hope of a patch to fix this?
When the game would be rewrited from a scratch. But its not so critical bug, as even for battleship size class - retreating from next-to-last square - solve the problem.
