MOO 2016 is as easy accessible as Endless Space, but i cant help but felt it be a more simplified version of Endless Space formula on the heels of a much more complex Endless Space 2.
The good of MOO 2016:
excellent interface and system management mechanics, easy to pick up but not too hard to master which is great for those new to the type of game.
Superb space battle mechanics, it is way better than Endless Space, which that game gives near zero control on how ships be moved, but there should be more things happening in MOO space battles as well, given events happen mid battle such as enemy got some new weapons fired.. and show some cinematic for that and pause the game be better use of the engine. Generally MOO give player more control on paper but less use on cinematic than ES in the space battle part. Lots of room to improve
Hence over all, it is as good as it gets but a whole lot of room to improve up on.
What i like to see:
More Random events: strange galactic anomaly effect all sides or just player: super nova, nova one of your colonies etc
Hero units, Vet units: Long surviving units become better, so the units first build gets upgrades down the track with better stats.
Better politics and diplomatic: AI should engage eachother at war and ask player to pick sides, build trade routers to support one sides war etc
pre-scripted Scenarios: this is for player to come in as the underdog weakling which some fraction already ruling half the galaxy, it is up to player to unit fractions against them.. and defeat the empire.. say: Humans are the big bad guy and your race is the one to unit the rest to topple the human empire.
Endless space set the bar rather high in 4X space games, but MOO has established universe to build on to rival it.
at current develop stage, MOO is 6/10
