So, while researching my fourth feedback paper, which will mainly conceirn race trait picks, I tried to figure out the most powerful combination. Testing resulted in me needing a minor adjustment to have the "perfect" pick composition, but the current one is actually so strong it resulted in a pretty devestating problem.
The overall growth rate is linear and I could have achieved exponentially, if I had played perfectly. I skipped a lot of just buying colony ships from BC to spare me some clicks, resulting in having a Bank account that would make Jacob Fugger blush. Anyway, I have about 80 colonies currently and it's causing a problem. The micromanagement is getting out of hand. Each turn about 5 colonies demand attention from me making minor, obvious adjustments, which is basically, repeating the same process over and over again. It's just tedious and time consuming. Not only that, but the amount of actions I have to take each turn, resulted in a problem with the stability of the game. Even though the game runs fairly stable and crashes are just occasionally, in respect of the amount of actions, I have a good chance to crash the game every turn now. It's basically unplayable now.
So, while the game works okay in a small galaxy, the huge one is a problem. One of my earliest feedbacks of the game was that there needs to be a "colony design" screen, basically, customisable autobuild orders, which you can then assign to colonies to minimize micromanagement. I'm now convinced that that feature is absolutely required. You need to be able to shortcut colony management, yet still be cusomizable.
