Haven't played in a while, and there's been an update or two?

Anyway, when the game tries to save, I get the following error:

Failed to create saved game. Check Windows permissions.

I checked the security settings for the executable, and set it to allow write access. What else is there? Also, is there a way to change where the game puts the save game files?

Thanks
This has always been found to be either some sort of backup issues (like OneDrive) or Anti-virus software running and locking the file during play. Try disabling them or excluding the save directory, either should work.

There is no "in-game" option to move saves files. You of course can use symbolic links to do so.

Here is an link to a write up (just a random one, there are many):

So I can't figure out where the issue is. I appreciate you responding, but your answer is pretty vague and not very useful.

I have Malwarebytes running, and went ahead and added an exception for the whol GOG folder, but that didn't fix the issue.

Is there some setting in the built in windows security that might resolve this? I can't believe I'm the only one with this issue (and it's particularly annoying since it has been running fine until this).

Guess I'll go back to playing Distant Worlds. :/
Unfortunately this error is not one specific application. It seems to be different for almost everyone.

But the folder you want to exclude is "Documents\Master Of Orion\Saves"
