I'm enjoying playing this game from GOG, and assuming it's the most up to date offical patched version there are still plenty of bugs in it. Im in the latter stages of a Hard game where Im definitely going to win but I want to finish the job. Sometimes it crashes to desktop when I enter certain fights, so I avoid those fights and come back another time and it doesn't crash. One wizard had one empty outpost left, casting the spell of return. It crashed to desktop every time I tried to enter it so I waited until it had one population and razed it fine. But here is the weirdest glitch I've encountered:

I've got this one human city on the coast I told to build a galley (to get an army to a portal tower on an island). The galley gets built and it's some kind of invisible demon ship with tons of weird skills. I thought yay nice glitch! but I only need one ship so when I tell the city to make trade goods or something else this happens: All my gold and mana goes to zero and all my gold and mana production goes to zero. ???

I think I'll try the unofficial patch.
