Um, quick question. Do sage and noble heroes give their boost to research and money no matter where they are? Or do I have to keep them stationed at my capital city, close to or in the fortress?

I just summoned Morgana and she came with noble and sage. So I'm super excited and want to make good use of her skills.

Thanks.

The good news is, sage and noble heroes will support your research and bank account, no matter where in the world they are. (However, any boost to spellcasting skill requires them to be stationed at your wizard's fortress.)

The bad news is that as benefits go, nobility is on the weak side: rather helpful at the beginning, but pretty much redundant later on. So it'll be your call whether to keep Morgana all game, reload and resummon, or eventually let her go for someone better suited to your mid-game needs.

Thanks. What I really want to do with Morgana is create items for her and send her out to fight. I almost always keep heroes till the end and never need more than six.

It's not really worth making her her own items as she does not have the ability to really make a decent fighter without getting at least Arcane Power as one of her picks. She no longer comes with any of her own spells either.

While I would hire her because of the Sage + Nobility I would just be using her to craft, and hold items, for others use ounce I get them. Especially if I was using Life magic w/ Heroism. Instant 12 research with lvl 4 or 15 if your Warlord as well is quite worth it.

I find (using Insecticide patch at least) that Morgana does come with four Death spells of her own - rather useful ones (Mana Leak, Black Prayer), plus Darkness and one other (edited, checked: Posession). Nice support for a Life-based Wizard.

Also, with her respectable mana pool, I think she's pretty handy in late game. Of course, with the right equipment even Rakir is handy enough. But I know this isn't relevant to the OP.

Insecticide is better referred to as a player made MOD and NOT a patch as it changes way to much about the game. Although I do have to admit that most of these make for better play some go beyond merely fixing bugs and enhancing hotkeys/navigation.

In the official 1.31 version, which is the one on gog and the last released by the developers, Morgana lost all her spells.

My main issue with the Mod is how they don't let you reload to try to get another Hero with the Summon Hero/Champ casting. It's just that to many heroes are completely useless and the computer so easily gets tons and you usually get few that you cannot really afford to waste time and mana on crappy ones.

Thanks for pointing this out; I've updated the Insecticide features thread with this, along with a number of other fixes which I'd overlooked the first time through.
Fair enough, EvilLoynis, I wasn't sure if this was patch/mod related or not, so just reported what I was seeing. And I agree that Insecticide makes a few changes that aren't about fixing bugs but about improving the game play, where "improving" means "in the opinion of the modder". I like most of them - changing how randomization works for summoned heroes and lair looting doens't bother me - but I don't see that preventing cheating (such as the mild form, in load-spamming) in a single-player game is at all necessary. The only change that irks me is the infinite capacity of triremes, and (related) the change to Wind Mastery effects... but it's true that the computer really had problems with ships.

Thanks, 2H Sword, I didn't mention this or a couple of others on your excellent thread as I'm no longer clear what's fixed by insecticide, what by 1.3.1! Ah, thought of another, I'll PM it.
