I've played this game off and on since it was released. I come back to it after nearly a 2 year break and I see the Caster of Magic patch is no longer free.. I understand Seravy needs to get paid for his efforts.. and to get his patch we need 3 dollars.. ?

I have no problem with this, but I am just posting to verify that, this is the current state of MoM? It is just a big shift from everytime I log in year to year the game has been free (excluding the initial cost) including the patches I downloaded.

Yep. Caster o' Magic is now a Slitherine/Seravy property.

To be fair, CoM now makes enough changes to the base game that it can no longer be considered just a patch, but a full-on mod. There are other threads on this board that summarize most of the changes, so that you can judge for yourself whether the DLC is worth it.
