Hi,

I'm thinking about buying this game and its expansion, but the store page is confusing about whether Linux is supported or not.

It lists "Master of Master Classic (Linux/EN)" (I assume the second Master is a typo and it should be Magic) on its store page, does it mean that only the original game is supported on Linux and the DLC does not?

Does it work if I install it with Wine and then use Dosbox afterwards?

It is confusing because the System Requirements only list Windows for both the base game and the DLC.

Thanks.

When I check the card page for downloading, it looks like a Linux version is available for download if you buy the base game. Screenshot attached. I haven't tested it out myself since I use a Windows machine, not a Linux machine.

I don't own the DLC, so I can't check that.

Hi,

I have bought the base game, and while it warned that the game cannot run on my Linux during the purchase, the base game was available to download for me after. It is possible that it is not the newest version, but I wished to buy it for nostalgia anyways.

Thanks.
The game itself (all versions, CoM included) runs through DOSBox. As long as you can get the game files and run DOSBox they'll all run, so the only real question is how to get the files without a dedicated installer. If you can resolve that, then you'll be able to play any of the versions (copy the files, ignore the launcher, and play directly through DOSBox).

Hi,

I have installed the base game with wine, and despite some errors it seems to have been installed fine, so I have bought the DLC and was able to install it. (also with wine, also got some errors)

Because of the errors it might not work for everyone, but it seems to have worked for me and after some Dosbox configuration I was able to get it running nicely.

Thanks.
Hi,

if you have a virtual Windows machine, you can install CoM there and then use the files for linux dosbox without problems.
It works fine in linux, like the original.

kind regards
CoM for Windows works 100% with Wine on Linux. You don't need to install or do anything, just a basic Wine installation and open Caster.exe with Wine, voilà.
