I see that the community patch has a lot of good improvements, but it still has a fatal flaw. The difficulty levels are still absurd.
"Hard" difficulty is still way too easy, while on Extreme the AIs are ridiculously overpowered. Yes, Extreme games can be won, but only occasionally, while in most cases the AIs just get way too powerful far too fast. And Impossible is essentially actually impossible.
The issue is that the resource advantages were created when the AIs were horrible, so they were necessary to compensate for the terrible AI. But as the AI was improved the resource advantages were not adjusted.
I was hoping that custom maps would provide a way to address this, but alas it does not. Its a shame, because all of the other changes are really good, but its almost all for nothing since "Hard" is uselessly easy and Extreme is ridiculously frustrating. It also doesn't help that the spell rewards are far too generous. Really high level spells pop from encounters way too early too often.
I once got Sky Drake on like the 2nd or 3rd encounter I took very early in the game. I've seen AIs, without 11 books, coming in with Rare summons like when I'm still building my first Sawmill or Forester's Guild when playing Extreme.
So is there any way to modify the AI resource advantages?
