I think I have found one gamestopping bug. Suddenly my mana disappears. Mana reserves are zero unless I find some in a lair although I'm gaining mana each turn according to the balance it drains away in a turn or two.
Curiously I don't remember this bug from the good old days. DosBox added new bugs? :P

Are you sure you're not casting any large spells which are using up the mana (or being mana drained)?

Isn't there some event that zeroes mana while it lasts? Like the space flux in moo...

The Mana Flux prevents mana gain of any kind, but it doesn't take away your current mana.

It appears I had accidentally started casting Create Artifact.

No, it only prevents the passive mana gain (from nodes, population, fortress and resources). You can still get mana through alchemy, destroying artifacts, and clearing caves/lairs/etc.
