dudalb: I think the current straight downloadable version of Majesty on GOG is the updated version, same as I have.
All you need to do is download it.make a copy of your saved games from your current copy, unitnasll the veraion you have and reinstall using the verion you just downloaded.
Ok, I may try it once more, but I doubt it would work, since the version number is still the same as before...
According to knowledge gained from somewhere else, these Kernal32.dll issues probably have something to do with its incompatibility with windows XP. That is, Kernal32.dll from vista and above provides functions which are unavailable in XP.

To put it bluntly, Windows XP is a dead OS, and GOG no longer supports it. IF making changes to the game to make it work better on post XP versions of windows means it will no longer work on XP, GOG will make those changes.
You really need to upgrade....

If I COULD, I might have upgraded. My real life situation just doesn’t allow me. It’s not just an obsession for me like it may indeed be for others.
Looks like the multiplayer tag was removed from the config file.
Just put <EnableDirectPlay>1</EnableDirectPlay> in the file with the other options and it will still work.
I just bought the game but there must be a glitch, yet the second map is impossible, looks like the game routines runs much faster and in just 3-4 days there are plenty of monsters and you're overwhelmed, no time to do anything. Am I wrong?

I bought the game about a year ago and played it on my old Windows 8 laptop, and didn't notice anything amiss technically (such as its obviously running too fast). It's just that a lot of the missions are quite tricky, and you basically have to guess what the designers expected you to do (and when, and in what order) to win. There's randomization at play, too, so sometimes you're just boned because of an unfortunate starting position too close to wandering monsters. I can tell you that, before I had to stop using that laptop, I was able to complete all of the story scenarios that were from the original base game, all but three from the included Northern Expansion (two of which were locked pending my completion of the other one, which never happened), and all but one of the three-ish pre-installed "downloaded" levels But the difficulty is all over the place, and some missions required many attempts for me to beat them.
Basically, it's an old game with pretty dated design, but the HD update of the Gold Edition seemed to be working as intended, as far as I could tell. I will say, though, that I have yet to install it on my new Windows 11 laptop, so I don't know for sure if it has any problems on Windows OSes later than 8.

Edit before posting: I am assuming you're talking about the first game, as that's the one that this thread is talking about. If you're asking about Majesty 2, I can't help you. (Also, in future, probably better to start your own topic to ask for help than to do so in an unrelated thread -- especially a mostly dead one from years ago. :) )
I suppose that the game is what I bought since I arrived here pressing the "forum" button alongside the game page. I'm now reading that maybe is something related to FPS, I tried to limit to 60 FPS the frame rate in the nVidia control panel but apparently nothing changed. I used to play majesty demo eras ago and it was nothing like this. In this case I just can build a ranger and a warrior guild, still not recruited full camps and 20 monsters arrive and destroy everything.
I'm talking about the campaign, I hardly manage to succeed in the first scenario, the second is clearly impossible, there must be some kind of issue.

I'm also not clear which mission you're talking about when you say "the second map/scenario": In the first Majesty, a bunch of missions (I think the game calls them "quests") are unlocked from the start, and can be played in any order. What's the quest's name?

At any rate, maybe check out some gameplay video from one or two of the levels you had problems with to compare how it runs and plays on your computer. Here's a "let's play" that I watched part of months ago and which you could use for this (though I'm sure there are other, much more recent ones). If I get around to installing the game on my current system in the near future, I'll let you know how it plays on that.
