Anyone else running into graphic corruption, or abrupt crashes? I've tried three times to finish the third world and have yet to complete it without some kind of glitch.

Have attached an image of what the graphic corruption looks like. That floating checkerboard is actually one of my balloons.

I currently have it set to "OpenGL" for the graphics mode, but have also tried "Overlay". Also turned on "Double Buffering.

Have been waiting sooooo long for this awesome game to appear on GOG. Heartbreaking to have it not be stable for me :-(

Edit: Bit more info on the crash to desktop issue. Two times now happened at exactly the same place in the 3rd world. Finished the tasks for the level, exit was available, but two of those flying black snake things left. As soon as I kill one of them, crash to desktop.

Hi,

Best thing to do in this situation is to send us an email with those screenshots and your DxDiag info so we can get to the root of the problem. Thanks :D.
Ok, will do. Thought I'd try the forums first in case someone had a quick fix.

I'll submit a report. Thanks :-)

As far as the game mysteriously closing itself, that has happened to me as well in the third and seventh level. Not sure what's causing it, but I found out it doesn't happen (at least so far it hasn't happened) if I play in the lower resolution. That's a shame because otherwise the game seems to be running great in high resolution - much better than the first game, that's for sure.

Yes, that's actually happening more than the graphics corruption. I have gotten past the third level, but still occasionally get the graphics corruption and the CTD crashing.

I'd say the crashing is probably related to the number of active objects i.e. with too much activity and lots of monsters/elements. I actually tried editing the DOSBOX config to bump up the memory from 16MB to 32MB, but didn't seem to avoid the problem.

Opened a ticket with GOG, not much help there. Said they didn't run into the problem ...
I've been having the same crashes as the other people in this thread. Level 17 seems to be especially bad. Even with in-level saves, the game crashes every couple of minutes. There also seems to be a game-breaking bug. When I approach Belix's castle (blue flag), the game always hangs. This means I can't beat him and can't finish the level. I hope there's some sort of support coming, because otherwise I'm going to have to ask for a refund for this game I can't play.
I've just come across a new bug only a couple of times so far, it seems completely random at the moment.
Here is a screenshot of the crash.

Edit: This is on the mac version.

I haven't been able to finish that level yet either. I was so close the last time, had all the other wizards defeated, exit portal was available, was just cleaning up the last few monsters when --- zap. Back to desktop.

I had actually seen that error before on other forums, ones that discuss using non-gog versions of the game. The consensus seemed to be that with Dosbox errors like this (especially divide by zero errors) are due to programming bugs in the original game code, not really anything to do with Dosbox directly.

Don't know if that's accurate or not, but a dbz error usually is a base coding problem. Might not be much you can do about that one specifically.

Haven't run into any problems after I left the game in low resolution since the seventh level on. Actually just beat the game.

Didn't work for me though. Tried low res and still crashed on level 17.

However, I've found a way to continue on that works really well, maybe a little known or used part of the game.

When you pause the game in the middle of a level (just hit "P"), the top two buttons in the small popup menu are Save Level/Load Level, which will save your current progress in the level.

The great thing about this, it persists between game restarts. I've finished level 17 by doing this: getting halfway through the level, saving every so often, crashing in the game, restarting the game, and reloading right where I left off (or at least where I last saved in the level).

Definitely resolves a lot of frustration, at least for me.
