Hello,

When playing Magic Carpet 2 for a few days, the game crashed like it does from time to time (not a big deal). But the last time it did crash, a vertical thin red line appeared on the right of my screen. I tried rebooting, updating drivers and even restarting the game and change from low to high res and vice versa then quitting the game but to no avail.

Anyone got a similar problem ? It seems strange to me that a game could damage? hardware that way.

Wow - that sounds serious. It should not really be possible for a game to damage your video card at all, apart from very exceptional circumstances like overheating and melting it. That should not really happen either as there should be hardware safeguards to shut the PC down in that case.

Can you post a bit more info about the hardware that you are using? Also have you modified the DOSBox settings for the game at all?

I'm using a laptop, an EliteBook 8560w from HP with Windows 10 as the OS, with a AMD radeon HD 6700 I think. I didn't touched the dosbox files, I only tried once to remap the controls but remembered about my own remapping app for my razer mouse and put back dosbox remap to default.

There's two things I noticed about the thin red line : I does not appear in front of a white window, and appears even at the bootup (before the windows logo at startup).
It sounds like it most likely is a hardware fault - if your PC is still under warranty then I'd take it back to the shop for repairs. Other people might have some good suggestions though.
