MAX is one of my favorite game ever... I still have the box and manuals! This game made me join this community
But I'm having problem with the MAX2 game. Whenever i try to lauch the game I receive an error message:
Not enough extended memory available to run max 2. Amount needed 6000000, amount found -73043968
Anyone with the same problem?
this sounds like you have to much extended memory.
how much memory do you have in your pc ?
proc. -----q6600,
memory ------4gb ram ddr2 800,
video---- 9800 gtx
windows xp64 bits
never imagine that too much memory could be a problem...
strage, max 1 runs good....
Is there any way i can run this game?
max 1 runs inside dosbox, that takes care of the memory problems.
Maybe you should GOG support.
i wish they would answer my questions...
could it be that your running a 64 bit os? i know alot of programs and games have alot of problems with that

have the same problem "Not enough extended memory available to run max 2. Amount needed 6000000, amount found ......"
OS: 64 xp pro
compatibility mode does not help
I got to do it!
Go to msconfig, boot.ini, then set the max mamory to 2048. restart the system. Note that windows will be running with only 2gb memory. Then you can play the game normally

It must be something to do with XP 64, I can run M.A.X 2 with no issues on Vista 64 bit. I got 4 gig of ram too.
It's not to do with XP64, per se, it is do with the interrogation of Windows for memory and assumptions (lazy ones) on the part of the original programmers. The wrapper should probably handle this in some way, basically, 4 GiB or more will cause the launch to fail, if you have a 32 bit OS and more than 4 this won't occur because the address space is capped and Windows will always report less than 4 GiB. GOG, please sort this out! (Aye, I am launching a ticket - rebooting with a memory cap on my ENTIRE MACHINE is not a fix, it's a horrible workaround that I'm not prepared to seriously conscience).
P.S. The actual switch is "/maxmem=xxxx" where xxxx is a value in MiB that you want to limit Windows to, e.g. 2048 gives 2 GiB.

I have this same problem :(
I'm also running XP 64 Pro - with 8gb RAM
No, rebooting each time I'd like to play this game is NOT a solution.
I haven't actually got this problem, (my computer doesn't have that much RAM :P), but my friend had a similar problem running half-life. We ran the game in compatibility mode with windows XP (I think) and it worked fine. Maybe try that?
EDIT: Nevermind, just read the above posts. It's already been tried :(
