Hi,

From what I remember there should be a full soundtrack for this game. However, it plays intermittently or not at all. There is clearly a problem with the Music in this game, at times it is non-existent (i.e. nothing when I enter the bar).

Anyone know of a solution for this?

I have the same problem, but what's worse is that there is an annoying 'alarm' sound that plays every few seconds. This occurs anytime I am outside. If I go into the Marketplace I hear music, for example, but when I go outside again the noisy 'alarm' sound starts up.

If I change the lure.ini parameter to music_driver=auto, then the alarm sound is a bass note instead. This is better. But then the music in the Marketplace sounds like garbage.

If anybody knows how to fix this please reply.

I just posted a new thread in this forum on how to get even better sound, but to fix your "perpetual note" problem, you shouldn't have to do more than play the game using DOSBox instead of ScummVM. You can get the EXE file that's missing in the GOG version by re-downloading the game from the ScummVM website.

Also, note that there is very little music in this game. There's music during the introduction, but after that most, if not all (I don't remember) of the game is completely without music.

Yep, there's music in the intro and the outro only. The rest of the game is completely silent with an occasional sound effect or two, like birds chirping, or water dripping. When you play it with shitty sound settings like in the gog scummvm packaging these effects sound like IDM drugged-out experimental synth music, but in reality you are just listening to rats squeaking in glorious MIDI format.

Is that alarm sound part of the game? I just installed the game and started playing it and it annoys me too.

No, the sound is completely broken under ScummVM, but GOG doesn't care at all.

If you want decent sound, play the game under DOSBox.
If you want great sound, use Roland MT-32 support under DOSBox via Munt.
