I am running Lula on windows 10 machine and each time I run the game it renders the game at my desktops resolution of 1920×1080 and displays the game as a tiny square with large black boarders on all sides. When the game starts after the menu the screen remains the same but the text (time, date, money) is in the black portion of the screen and if the mouse is moved into this area the course glitches out. Also the game does appear to be running at the high res just not displaying in it properly as if the mouse is moved into the black area the name of the location you can go to appear (although the text is glitched and difficult to read. Nothing happens in the small square that displays the actual game graphics. I have tried to set the compatibility setting to render in 640x 480 but it doesn’t do anything. Anyone got any suggestions?

I have reported it to GOG support, they sent this back:

Hello,

Please follow these troubleshooting steps:
1) Please make sure that you use "Run as Administrator" to install and to start the game (right-click on the shortcut or setup file and select "Run as Administrator"). If you are using Galaxy, then make sure to run Galaxy as Administrator.

2) Please reinstall the game AND add it to your anti-virus/firewall software's exception/trusted list. Simply disabling firewall or AV software could not be enough, since some of these software are running still in background or in services list. If you are using Galaxy, then please add Galaxy as well.

3) Reinstall the June 2010 DirectX runtime package. You can find the archive file containing the 2010 package installation files here:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

You will have to extract the files into some folder, then open that folder and launch the DXSETUP.exe file in order to proceed with the installation.

After that please download and install DirectX Web Installer:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=35

Please have in mind that this will only add DirectX 9.0c to available pool of DirectX libraries, and it will not overwrite your other versions. Some games are not able to utilize newer DirectX libraries, and they require DirectX 9.0c.

4) Please update your drivers:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx

Maybe you have some settings forced on your graphics device in NVidia Control Panel. If so then try to reset them:
I) Right-click on your desktop and select Nvidia Control Panel.
II) Click Manage 3D Settings.
III) In the upper-right corner, click Restore Defaults.

5) Please change your display to 16-bit colour mode. You will find tutorial how to do this in the link below:
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-1865158/change-color-bits-windows.html

1. Right click on the desktop, a menu will appear, click on Screen Resolutions
2. The Screen Resolution properties will open up. Next click on Advanced Settings.
3. On the top, make sure the Adapter Tab is selected, then at the bottom, click on List All Modes
4. From here, select the color mode (bit) you want and click OK.
