Since update 0.91.35.1/2 I can no longer select potions/items in the adventure map or dungeon (the option no longer exists in the popup menus), this is the only time I actually use these but very rarely, so it took a while to notice as normally I'd rest the party to regain hit points/spells that are lost/used in battle.

or am i missing something?

It's a temporary measure when dev related new spells. We just uploaded a new patch 0.91.35.3 and recovered the feature. Now you can use potions outside of battle in both Arena and Adventure mode.
