I have a Thief who is L9 for crossbows/bows, 11 strength and 16 agility but when she tries to equip a bow needing L4 in crossbows/bows, 9 strength and 14 agility it comes up with -10 in the damage section. I don't quite understand why she can't equip this bow without penalties as she is above the requirements to use it. Can someone tell me what I've missed? Thanks :)

^You most likely tried to equip Long Bow. Long Bows have -10 to Attack.
Short Bows have +5 to Attack and Crossbows have -20 to Attack.

Attack changes your chance to hit, and as you see it is the heavy damaging bows, which are penalized..

Thank you! It was indeed a long bow I was trying to equip. Short bows seem to be a bit thin on the ground at the moment, let's hope I find another vendor soon who has a nice little bow for my thief :)
