Suppose that in a specific area, there are two random encounters with different enemies, let's call them A and B. If I run or hide from A every time I encounter it, but fight B every single time, will I eventually clear the area, or will there be a time when there's no B left (but A is still around)?
Each area has X encounters. Each encounter might be slightly randomized after reload (instead of 4 bandits you might meet 5), but in general they are always of the same composition. So if area has 5 encounters with bandits and 3 encounters with Wasps (number out of my head), you will have to defeat exactly 5 bandit groups and 3 wasp groups. If you defeat all bandit groups, next encounter will 100% be wasps, no matter how many times you run from it (or reload the game).

EDIT: Disregard this. I hadn't explored the rest of the map yet and thought just that small signed-in area was the grounds, instead of most of the map. Just cleared it. Can't figure out the imp's damn riddle though ...

I have a similar question, so instead of a new thread I figured I'd put it here.

When you do clear an area, how do you know? I'm pretty sure there is a pop-up but I can't remember.

Specifically, I'm at the Prince's Hunting Grounds at the beginning of the 2nd map. It's a rather small area, all encounters are hidden, I've already fought the cursed hound (I'm guessing there is only 1 of those encounters at each area, going by the message when I beat them - the other was in the mushroom area of the 1st map), and several of those rhino looking beasts.

I'm early into it, and have only been to 3 of these areas - the beach (cleared, but can't remember how I knew that), the mushroom area (I think all surprise encounters are finished, but there are still visible enemies too strong for me yet), and this - the prince's hunting grounds.

Reason I ask is because I've been walking around awhile without getting attacked (I put no points in camoflage - I want the xp from every enemy I can get), but I don't think I got any message about extra xp for clearing it.

Maybe there's more to that area?

Thanks

You get a bonus for clearing an area of enemies. I was never able to figure out the boundaries of these areas. There are notices that you are "entering Such and Such" and leaving the same area. Once an area is cleared you will see a sign that says "Congratulations. Due to your tracking skills you were able to..........." Then you get bonus points.
The Prince's Animal Hunting Area is one area. But the roadway system with the Prince's Troops will be a second. You will get bonuses for clearing out each area. Also, when you entered the Rat Cave. If you didn't see the message about successfully clearing it out, you will still have some enemies there. Many of the buildings (but not all) will give you the bonus for clearing out the enemies. (I think the Witches buildings are the one's that don't have a bonus.)
Edited for spelling
