It seems as if the game has no real fullscreen, half of my screen is black.

I have fullscreen. What resolution monitor do you have? Also, what do you have selected for graphics engine in options (Directx or OpenGL)? Maybe either of those have something to do with it.

My desktop resolution is 1680x1050 and I have tiny black bars on the bottom and top. It is actually not that annoying to me and other than that, the game works quite well. As you can see in the screenshot I uploaded.

My resolution is 1280x1024 and the bars on bottom and top are really huge! I can`t understand that, 1280x1024 is the native resolution of my screen, it should fill the whole screen! Why are there those huge black bars????
BTW, I use Direct X.

"The game is designed for 16/9 resolutions which are now are the most common ones.
So for other formats, like yours, which is 4/3 there are black bars on the top and the bottom of the screen."

1280x1024 is 5/4 and 1680x1050 is 16/10.

So, unless you have 16/9 monitor, you will have black bars on top & bottom. Sure you can use scaling options of your GPU, but this will stretch the image, so I don't recommend it.

Sounds like the game is made for 16:9 aspect ratio only. (To avoid, pan/zoom/stretching you add black bars) Much like when you buy a blu-ray disc and it's got black bars top and bottom as the cinematic aspectratio is even wider than 16:9

edit: nvm, answer above pretty much sums it up, solution: buy new screen :)

correct..... i have seen loads of games and mostly they start at:

1024 x 700 or x720) or 600)
1280
and sometimes bigger most of the games sofar that i have bought only go to 1280

Havent seen any games that use full 1900 x 1080 or 1920 x 1200

i saw a website that allows you to check if your own website scale okay or centers okay:
quirktools dot com

so thats where i got the resolution info from, and not every game supports 23 or 24""
i still use 17" CRT at 1024x768 @85hz (or max 1280 @ 75hz) not for the price cause these huge screens are cheap, but for other reasons :D
