So I'm just reaching out to some maybe more experienced guys here. So I've got an old version of Locomotion, with the manual, CD-Key, and everything. I'm running Windows 8 though, and I'm just wondering if it'd perhaps be simpler to just buy it here through GoG, or to try to get it working. I haven't tried it yet, CD is at home and I'm away at school till this weekend, but it is fairly old and could have some issues.

Just hoping that someone else might have had a similar experience. I'm half tempted to buy it here if only for the fantastic soundtrack, but if there's perhaps an advantage to getting the old disk working, I'll play with it for a bit to make it work.

Hope someone might have some insight into the matter, and thanks for any info you can give!

Okay..this is the way how i did it....

I ran Locomotion on Vista 32 bit and Win 7 64 bit but not without problems. It really depends on your hardware configuration (especially graphic card - there were problems with ATI mobility series). Sorry i have no experience with Win 8 but I believe you have a good chance to run it!! BUT you may experience some problems (directx, graphic issues - you can try compatibility mode, disable visual themes, disable aero etc....)

So:
1.) Install, patch, run - works?Great, no problem!:-)
2.) Does not work properly? Buy gog version!!

I have original CD of Locomotion but I also bought gog version simply because i´m lazy (no CD, no patches...)!:-D
