As a side note, does the Supergro in Citadel Island prison guard anything important? I never came back there later. It seems weird that they made a secret entrance to the prison without having the player ever use it.

If you don't check the wardrobe to get your holomap, ID card etc. you can re-enter the Citadel later via the other entrance

But if you reenter that early you get captured anyway. Might as well get captured through the main entrance.

The main entrance is harder to get to. You have to run past the soldiers and through the gate dodging the garbage truck. The side entrance is a lot easier. The side entrance is also used when we speedrun to escape the Citadel in the first place :)
