I think the answer is "no" but I'll ask anyway. Is there a way to highlight dropped items like you can in most other dungeon crawlers? Some of the terrain makes spotting stuff a little difficult.

Pretty sure there isn't. It's been a while since I've played this game; but hey, I've been wrong before.

I'll wait a couple of hours, if no one else post a definitive answer I'll give you the answer credit.
Thanks. :D
Actually, there is a shortcut for this, its "w" (or "z" on an azerty keyboard). It makes items brighter for one second, which is enough to spot them (and very useful if some gold has "slipped" between two texture tiles...). You can find all the shortcuts in-game with F1 or by clicking on the question mark on the right of the interface. Quite a lot of them really help! Also, as I had some issues too figuring out some of the game systems, the manual and readme offer some great insights (and story). It's something I totally forgot to read at first, so have a look at them too if you haven't already, it will help!
