Looking on Steam I discovered that Remasters are being done for Life is Strange and Before the Storm

You can see some more detail in the hair and eyes as well as a softer look in the face overall.

Big question though is this a needed remaster as the games are only a few years old, will they come to GOG? and will there be a discount if you own the originals?

I'm doubtfull, since we still don't have LiS 2. Was hoping True Colors would be announced on here too, but no luck, sadly.
Maybe one day.

As for wether we need the remasters; I suppose the do look nicer, the engine has improved a lot over time, epsecially the improved facial animations are welcome. But LiS and BtS share a more abstracted artstyle that ages well.

Also, Steam currently has Tell me Why free to play thi entire month. I've only played a little but am already quite impressed.
Would be great to have that on GOG too at some point..

Making a remastered version right now ??... really ?

It seems that dontnod has some problem with LIS (LIS 2 isn't as good as LIS 1, IMO...).
A little bit "lazy", if you ask me.
At least, you can market this game as a "new" game for the new players on Xbox Serie S/X or PS5...
A quick cash grabber... in order to get enough money for a real LIS 3 ??

DONTNOD don't make Life is Strange anymore, they and Square Enix parted ways and all future LiS (inluding True Colors) will be handled by Deck Nine (the creators of Before the Storm).

Having rewatched the remastered footage just now, the animation and texture difference is siginificant so I welcome it.:)

As a side note: play Tell me Why if you haven't, it's incredible.

The first Life is Strange needs to be remastered just for the lip sync, or lack of, alone.
