How do you get out of the "boss mode"? It's running in the background just fine, but I can't get the window to respond anymore. I'm running Win7.

Same here. It doesn't cause a problem at all because I can close and restart and the game works fine, but I'm curious to know how to use it properly. In looking at the upper left menu, I noticed a "^" icon next to the commands. Is there a key board shortcut that "boss" mode will only respond to? Though I gotta say: It'd be PRETTY irresponsible to play this in the workplace in the 1st place. XD LOL!

please help. Pressed the boss key, but now I can't get back in to the game! I would just close it and restart but I haven't saved the game!! Ad i have been playing for a couple of hours...don't want to go from the beginning :/

After pressing the boss key, I selected LSL7 from Windows Task Manager. That resulted music and speech playing and cursor changing to Larry's cursor, unfortunately picture didn't come back. However this is best result I have achieved this far, so I recommend that you shouldn't press the boss key.

@silentgeargrandi that sign means that you should press CTRL+letter as short cut, so for example map is CTRL+M and boss key is CTRL+B, but after minimizing the game with the boss key the game doesn't respond to the short cut anymore.

I have this issue as well, and so does a friend of mine.

Guys, I did it! Same thing happened to me and I found this thread. Heres my workaround on Windows 10:

Opened task manager, found the app. Right clicked, click expand. Then click either "bring to front" or maximize. What happened to me here was that a tiny little window opened. That was enough though. I right clicked and tried to click save. You'll have to move your mouse up and down far to the right of the little in game menu that appears when you right click. Fortunately its highlighted when selected. When the save menu appears, do not click. type anything, then press enter. That should save the game! then you can just end task and restart the game to get back to playing :D

You really shouldn't play eight hours of any game without saving. It's risky and not healthy.

My thoughts exactly.

I tested the "bring to front" suggestion with Win 8.1. I got various outcomes. First time I tried I couldn't get the save menu to open. Second time I tried it I could actually get back playing, because this time I got also the picture and not just sounds.

Pressing the boss key in any game will permanently screw the game, or it least make it hard to get out of. The boss key also exists in at least one other Larry game (the 2nd or 3rd one. Maybe the EGA version of the first one too) and in at least one of the Space Quest games, and in all of those it will screw your game. You can try the solutions mentioned in this thread, but in the future, the better solution would be to just not touch it at all, or at least save the game before doing so so you can CNTR+ALT+DELETE out of the game and then get right back in it
