Hi, I recently got the LSL Greatest Hits and Misses Collection and quickly tried out all of the games to make sure they worked on my computer.
They all work fine, except for LSL 6 SVGA (the version with better graphics).
The problem is that Larry walks soo fast! I wouldn't mind this too much, however this also stops me from accessing the menus, so I'm unable to save, or change any settings! When I put my curser over the menu at the top, it flashes and then immediately closes.

I've heard that this is due to the fact that the game gets its speed from the processing speed of the PC? (and modern PCs are much faster than the ones the game was made for)
I'm happy to just play the VGA version, which seems to work well, however I've heard a lot of people on the forums say that it has problems and stops working part way. Other people have recommended playing the SVGA version instead, as that's the better version, but as you can see, that's a problem for me.

I'm running Windows 8.1 32bit on an Asus T100, btw.

Does anyone have a solution or anything I could do to fix this?
Thanks in advance!

Sure do.

As stated in an earlier thread:

Go into your Larry 6 directory, it should be c:\gog games\leisure suit larry\leisure suit larry 6\. Now in this directory you should find a file called "dosbox_l6.conf". Open this is notepad or similar program, now you should see a listing of a bunch of stuff like:

[dosbox]

language=
machine=svga_s3
captures=capture
memsize=16

Scroll down till you see:
[cpu]

core=auto
cycles=max
cycleup=1000
cycledown=1000

Now change the number on the line marked Cycles= from max to 20000 then scroll down again till you see:
[sblaster]

sbtype=sb16
sbbase=220
irq=7
dma=1
hdma=5
mixer=true
oplmode=auto
oplrate=22050

Now change the number on the line irq= from 7 to 5 then save. Boom.
I found that setting Cycles=6000 was the right amount for my pc to slow down Larry so that he doesent "come" and go too fast ;)
Any plans for upgrade to scummvm 2.0? The engine is working now with the svga version if am not wrong.
