This game will not run in fullscreen for some reason. Whether I start it in windowed mode and then alt-enter to fullscreen, or start fullscreen from the start, all I get is a black screen with the game audio playing in the background. Thjis happens whether I launch it from the shortcut in my Start menu or directly from the Galaxy client.

I have a standalone version of ScummVM already installed on my machine, which I haven't used in a while. But when I tried running that just now I got the same problem, no matter which game I run it with. Pretty aggravating problem.

So, it's an old version then? I would try a recent daily build and see if you still have the same issue.

Well my understanding is that the GOG build of the Kyrandia games use their own self-contained version of ScummVM, that is isolated from any other installations on my computer, but I'll try updating the GOG build and see if that makes a difference.

Strangely enough, I had no trouble getting Kyrandia Book 2 on GOG to run in fullscreen, which uses the same build and version of ScummVM as Book 1.

Edit: It looks like the GOG build is already the most up-to-date version, so no luck there.

I meant the instead of the standalone version you have installed. GOG build is older than the daily builds.
