Nirth_90: With an nvidia card and one of the later drivers along with nvidia inspector you can add a frame limit to specific game profiles between 1 and 120+ I think. It works great especially if you're annoyed by VSync's input lag or if the game doesn't support either VSync or a frame limit.

I don't know if this exist for ATI/AMD cards but maybe.

tiv: Thank you - the frame late limiter does help with the input lag! What FPS target gives you the least tearing?
I don't think a frame limiter helps with that, you need a second buffer like VSync and its function is what causes the input lag (if I remember correctly, could always good the term or read at wikipedia). I'm not sure how annoying input lag is in this particular game, haven't had the pleasure to test it yet but it differs from engine and type of games. If tearing is annoying try running with VSync (and preferably triple buffering to avoid performance issues). To force triple buffering you need a specific tool for that, a famously used one is D3DOverrider, a separate program that comes with RivaTuner. It's available att Guru3D, they have fast download servers as well.

KrankyKat@ Here's the link if you want to try NI anyway: http://bit.ly/IHGopG

Just remember to update it. Glad it worked out for you with your current application, always nice when you don't need an application for every little option.

About specific FPS, it's very optional so in case you run a high-end GPU but isn't bothered by some lag you could always lower the limit to avoid addiational heating although it shouldn't be an issue as long as you have a working fan and great airflow in the case.

I can't wait to play this myself but I'm hooked in Planescape Torment at the moment and I have hard time focusing on two single player games simultanously. *hmphf*..

Some people use Fraps for that purpose, I use Bandicam since it also has the option to also take high-res jpg screenshots on a timer, which Fraps lacks. Just another option for the readers.

There is a fps limiter that will solve all your problems. If you download MSI afterburner BETA there is a framerate limit option on the on screen display screen. Go into setup and its in the general tab. You can pick whatever framerate limit you like, it works with every game :)

Where? I use that application too but for monitor reasons. All I can do is monitor my FPS in-game, not limit it.

Hi Nirth_90. Are you using the latest BETA version? its on the main Afterburner download page. Its not available on any other version. When you have installed it, the framerate limiter isnt in the overclocking section it is in the MSI AFTERBURNER On screen display server. Click on the spanner icon (setup) and you will see the framerate limit option. You can pick any framerate you like. Let me know if you have any issues

Not that I need it now, but how would one use Fraps in this way? I have it and I see nothing like a frame limiter option. I know while recording you can lock the fps, but I don't want to be recording the entire time I'm playing.

Do you use the benchmark options or something? I've never touched/bothered with those.

Ah, thanks. Good to know to have several solutions in case NI wouldn't help. :)

Oh pardon me, I was wrong! I just had a google and it turns out that Fraps lacks this option, which is surprising. In Bandicam you can set it to limit FPS to a given threshold all the time, or only when capturing video, and you can toggle it on or off with a hotkey. I assumed the same for Fraps.
i like to point out some of the reson this game in particular can manage to overheat your gpu

1. the amount of cpu power you need is very low means your cpu can keep up with a very hige speed

that means that all the load is going to the gpu who just run full speed

2. in other game mentioned bf3 so on, the cpu is kind of the bottleneck so you don't load the gpu in the same way

now this is not to protect the manefucturer it's bad designe anyway and other game equal to LoG my produe the same problems and effects no fps limit with a low cpu recuierment make your gpu render way more frames then nessesery
