I play Eq2, Skyrim,ME3 all on highest options and my video card never temp never rises above 70. playing this game I'm idling mid 90's. that doesn't seem right at all.
This question / problem has been solved by senbonimage
Have you tried to use Vsync? Is there any difference?
I don't have this game yet but I can make an educated guess. It's possible that Vsync is off which let's your computer generate as many frames it possibly can. See if there is a option in-game to turn it on or force it on in nvidia control panel or whatever you have.
This "problem" goes with Trine, too. While the game never comes into the situation to a cpu limit, the gpu can work with the highest load possible(like furmark).

Given situations like this, you should use the former mentioned vsync method.

Another approach is a frame limiter. I am personally using vsync triple buffered and my gpu doesnt need to create unwanted frames anymore.
VSync did the trick! i went from mid 90's to low 60's
that is such a relief I as afraid to keep playing!
thanks guys.
What the others said--try enabling vsync. I haven't had the problem myself (I tend to use vsync) but saw on another forum where that fixed some people's overheating and heat-related shutdown problems.

The game is probably trying to run at an ungodly, unnecessary framerate. Limit it and you will probably be set.
