I wondered if other people were silly enough to jump in on purpose and then cursed that they did not do it earlier.

It seems like most of these pits contain some kind of useful loot.
jup...realisted that around lvl 3 or 4 or so...dunno what ive missed...could use some more mage gear...my fighters are pretty well equipped
Since I have experience with these kind of games, first thing I did when I found a pit was save and jump into it. x)

That said, they're a bit heavy on the secrets-and-loot-and-xp and a bit light on the OH MY GOD THIS IS SUCH A HASSLE DEAR LORD WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUU- as I remember it from Eye of the Beholder.

Here, it's almost always a reward and in an isolated section of the next level. Don't get me wrong, I understand why they made it that way, as opposed to the frustration and "Nope."-ness of some other Dungeoncrawlers that used this system, but I think there just should've been a bit more tradeoff, more than just a little damage that takes 5 minutes to heal.
