Know what just hit me? When I'm done, or stuck in my main playthru, I'm gonna try making an old-school mode game (ie no auto-map) in which the only saving I will do is the auto-save from the blue healing crystals.

Will probably start on normal to avoid too much frustration, but should provide for some good old-school challenging fun:)

Yeah, when I saw the Crystals and their function (i.e. Autosaves), I was surprised that there was no Ironman feature.

Cool idea, I play without auto map anyway.. so its only one more step.
I guess that is something for a second play through.

I got to lvl 3 before giving up...without the map its like major headaches on figuring out what is what...

Ironman doesn't need to be a special feature imo...since you can choose to play that way on your own.

I have the map function active, but I hardly ever look at it. Usually there's enough landmarks to figure out where I am vs. where I was. And if not, I pick up enough stuff that I don't need so I can drop something like an occasional breadcrumb. :)

I've only been using the crystals anyway (I use the crystal and then make a manual save as backup but only at the crystal), I'm using automapping but guess I'm basically doing your ironman just cause I prefer checkpoints. I like to feel death is scary, not just a minutes work since your last save.

Wish me luck then, I'm about to hit level 3 (played only for about 2 hours yesterday).
But so far it has been great fun to play without map function.
