Hi, I'm an old school gamer who loves Dungeon Master! I'm pretty interested in Legend of Grimrock but not sure if it works on my Dell Inspiron 15R N5110. It seems it has Intel HD 3000. I don't really play any new titles on PC. Appreciate if you can tell me I should get a better machine for this title!
I know they took their time to make the game work on low-end computers as well, but I can't tell about yours specifically.

I don't think they have a demo version to be available either...

There is no demo but you can try this test: http://www.atomicgamer.com/files/95753/legend-of-grimrock-hardware-test-v1-0-4

Wow, thanks! I didn't know they have a hardware test. Will give it a try.

One word of warning: this test was published some time ago - so you can not be 100% sure if it represents current state of game, but at least: if you can run it you are closer to say "yes".
Your laptop is quite recent, and Intel HD Graphics 3000 has shader model 3 support, so you should be fine.

Minimum:
OS: Windows XP Service Pack 3
CPU: Dual Core 2GHz Intel or 2.8GHz AMD
Memory: 2GB
Graphics: ATI Radeon X1600 or NVIDIA GeForce 7600 or better (512MB graphics memory or more. Shader Model 3.0 needs to be supported). Minimum supported resolutions 1280×720 and 1024×768.
DirectX: 9.0c
Disk Space: 1GB

Yes, but if I read correctly, HD 3000 in this laptop has 384MB memory, while game minimum requirements list 512MB. I'm not saying it will not run, but developers are going to do tests with 256MB+ memory cards so we can not be 100% sure at this moment.

Intel HD graphics 3000 uses machine main memory as video memory, so in theory it should be able to use at least 1/4 of system memory. There might be bios restrictions for this though.

EDIT. I have Lenovo laptop with Intel HD Graphics 3000, and in my case the Intel Graphics configuration program says that maximum video memory is around 1,6GB. Can you check from there? (Click desktop with right mouse button, select Graphics properties. In there, you should find out "Information" or something similar)

Thanks guys for your help. Sorry i didn't check this forum for days.

I gave the demo a try. It worked but didn't really say anything useful other than "congrats". The demo looked smooth and FPS I got was around 25. Anyway, I've preordered it. It's my first new title in this 15 years :)

re graphics memory. I see that the max memory size is 1.7GB, which is around 1/4 of the system memory, and the size in use is 245MB. I guess you're right. It seems it can use main memory if necessary.

I have an Intel Core i530 CPU which is an older model that yours and the game runs fine on my on-chip GPU. You should probably be fine.
