My brain is starting to hurt on how to get that goddamn armor. I've tried to count the right tile for dropping in from level 4 pits and I'm not getting to the other side of those bars :/

Pic from my map. Arrow pointing in the direction of that armor.

HALP!

Didnt get that armor, too. Would like to get that plate looking armor for my warrior :3
Seconded. Really stumped by this. Gamebanshee says it's only available later in the game but does not provide the method for obtaining, so I do not trust that. Oh well, guess I will keep a save for before starting level 6.
Hmm...secret swtiches i think...o.o;;;

You can always come back from the lower levels. Food won't be a problem once you get to a level where there's a small room where snails respawn quite quickly.

I had completely missed this, and I'm at Level 6. Complete brainfart. I swear I explored that little region at least 6 times when doing Level 4.

Well I'm stumped. I see that juicy armor in there. Looks like a Heavy-Armor chest.

Now I'm going to obsess over this all evening.
I got it!

You get there from level 6.

SPOILER ALERT:

fireball corridor, buttons are there

you can go there from 6 lev Hall of flame its secret area
The corridor where you get the Flaming Longsword? Ok, I've found a secret button about one pace after the pressure plate, which opens a small alcove on the opposite side of the corridor. Inside is another secret switch. I press it and hear something opening, but I haven't been able to locate the newly opened door or whatever. Where should I go after the second secret button?

Near the fire shooting demon head. But it's timed, so you'll have to hurry!
Got it. Didn't know there was another secret switch before the pressure plate (a total of two in that corridor alone, plus one other inside an alcove), which unlocks another alcove containing the stairs leading upward.
Now I just have to redistribute my inventory weight. Fifteen-kilo plate armour...ouch.

You go to the corridor with the shooting head. You press a secret button.
It opens an alcove.
You go to the alcove, there will be a secret button.
This opens another alcove. There's a button inside.
Press it.
Go back to the previous alcove.
Go up flight of stairs.
Die repeatedly due to fire-elemental-thingies.
Reload.
Reload until you no longer die.
Collect rewards.

Yeah, I just assumed the start of level 6 was a permanent situation. Turned out it wasn't.
