Nephilim83: In the attached pictures, you can see that the shadows in my game are very jagged and full of multicolored artifacts. It's kind of funky looking. Almost like what you would find in a much older game. I was just wondering if it is supposed to look like this or if I've got some settings screwed up somewhere. It's not really bothering me that much. I just want to make sure that I am getting the most out of this lovely, lovely game.
Sorry for the necro! But there isn't a solution to this I have seen anywhere.
I have the same problem. I have read only 2 other reports on this, one from the official grimrock forum. http://www.grimrock.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2031. That thread goes in real depth describing what I am talking about, but I don't think they came up with a solution. I don't know much about all the terms and computer stuff, but I know that this is an issue that is bothering me.
These nasty blotchy spots are multicolored like oil and are anywhere it is dark in the game. This is really noticeable when walking down a dark hall or walking away from a light source. I updated my graphics drivers, I installed some directx redistribute that was recommended somewhere. I fiddled with all the other settings too.The weird thing is, they only go away when I turn the rendering quality from high to low. I don't really want to play like that though.
Someone suggested in that other thread that it was a problem with the monitor's contrast or brightness, but I changed that a lot too and it didn't do anything other than exacerbating it. I don't think that could be the problem anyway because there are plenty of screen shots and videos with the same max settings as mine that look just fine.
I have a good computer that should have no problems running this game. Nvidia GeForce GTX 970, 8 GB ram, windows 10 64, Intel i5-4570 3.20.
Please suggest any ideas that you think could lead to a solution.
