I want to use an X360 wired controller with LoK. Every solution here says to use XPadder, but I really don't feel like paying $10 for it. Is there any worthwhile free alternative?

Well I didn't want to pirate it either, was hoping for an alternative free program.
Xpadder 5.3 is not pirated its freeware, Only later versions need payments required. Xpadder was initially free. So it's not pirating.

Now if you are using windows 7 or vista you may need to set the capatability mode to windows XP.

It's really your best bet to use that one.

Edit: If you are dead set against using Xpadder (again thought 5.3 linked to you is not pirated at all) you can try JoytoKey which has been around for a long time is free, but I've heard kinda a pain to set up.

Sequiro:
Did the research, you are correct, thank you for the input. Using it now, pretty easy after you get the image set up properly.
There's also the (better in my opinion) Pinnacle Gamepad Profiler

I even made a profile:

I hate that one. I bought it and then went to use it for a few games and it wouldn't work in-game, the games didn't acknowledge it running at all. I think one of the games was Segas Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst. Not every game, but a couple. I needed something else for those thats when I discovered Xpadder and have used nothing else since. Now that was a few years back so things may be different now.

Besides Xpadder was designed from the get go to work specifically for the 360 controller. Is very simple to setup. So if your using a 360 controller why use anything different?
I never had a single problem with PGP. It's a much more professional software and works flawlessly with XBox 360 - and all XInput devices.

Besides Xpadder isn't specifically designed for XBox 360 controllers as it existed long before the XBox or XInput.

To each his own, I guess. I've used Xpadder before until I discovered PGP which is a much better tool. So you see, I've experienced it the other way around. ;)
