Hi there, in Soul Reaver 1 I can't stop Raziel running forward. I've tried a few different controllers. Has anyone ran into this problem?

Don't use a controller. The game does not support controlers with analog sticks properly. If you must use it try a binding application like XPadder.

This, the game was coded before analog controls were standered at least on the PC anyway, you have to turn off the controller fuction in the game and just set it to keyboard and then map the keyboard controls to the controller via a mapper program like Xpadder or Joy 2 key. You may still experience some forced selections in the game's menu(what I mean is if you say try to move down the menu options the game will move the "cursor" back to the top of the options) I'm sure there is a way to correct it, that or it's just me since I use Motionjoy DS3 to use my PS3 controller on my computer, me I just set my controller settings to PS1 no analog mode I still have to use Xpadder though

Is there a way to get the game not to see the analog pads?

Either just unplug it and don't bother with it or set the controls to keyboard and use one of the programs suggested earlier to map movement keys to the the respective axes on a gamepad.

Edit: On my rumblepad 2 all I need to do is change the mode to D-Pad only. But I'm using the keyboard since in this game gamepad offers no advantage.

T Here's no way I could play a game like this with a keyboard.
So use Xpadder. But as has been said - you won't make the analog stick to actually be analog. It's either D-Pad or the stick emulating D-Pad.
Okay I've solved it. If you're using an actual PS2 controller then turn off analog. If you're using a Logitech dual action such as me then press the mode button before starting the game and use the D-pad. If you start running in circles then just flick the analog stick and that should fix it
I'd advise the use of something like Pinnacle game profiler, using that I've actually got full analogue control, without having raziel running in circles forever.
Along with also being able to us the triggers.
Maybe I'm naive, but isn't decent gamepad support the kind of thing we could expect GOG to get working for one of their releases? I mean that's obviously how the game was intended to be played. Legitimate question.

I have a Logitech F510 controller and I used pinnacle game profiler (creating an xbox360 profile) but it doesn't seem to work (none of the keys respond in-game) :( . Did you do anything specific?

GOG basically just packages up old games and applies the latest patches, they don't spend much extra effort to fix and fine-tune them (and really can't, as they don't have source access). Thus issues such as broken controls are pretty much the norm when it comes to older games.
I used the logitech profiler software that came with my logitech controller to mimic the keyboard settings. Set up the game to run using the keyboard instead of a controller and now it works like a charm. Thanks for resolution of this issue. I was having a devil of a time trying to figure out how to get Raziel to stop running.
If people are still having issues even with Joy2Key /Xpadder/similar programs, don't forget to run them as administrator before you boot up the game.

[I'm going to post this in every thread about controller issues for this game]
