Hello everyone

I would like to play games from Legacy of Kain series, but my main concern is in which order should I play them? (Take into consideration only games available on GOG) I know nothing about the plot or characters, except things I read from reviews (that LoK series supposedly has great story and memorable characters).

Also what is the best source to fill in the plot gaps from games missing on GOG?

I could go with chronological order, but after googling it I found something about de-spawning timeliness or something like that, so I quickly closed it to avoid spoilers. So here I am :)

The best order to play them is by release date, with one possible exception**.

That would be:
Blood Omen *
Soul Reaver
Soul Reaver 2
Blood Omen 2 **
Defiance

* Blood Omen 1 is not available on PC in digital form due to some nasty legal problems, but you may be able to buy a Playstation version on PSN. If you cannot, you can read the script here (but it becomes really important only after you finish SR1).

** Now, Blood Omen 2 may be the one you can play after Defiance. It was handled (or should I say - mishandled) by an entire different team than SR1, SR2 and Defiance and when it comes to writing and story the end result is really problematic. Much of Defiance's script was dedicated to fixing the problems introduced in Blood Omen 2.

Thank you! I will begin by playing SR1 then. I don't have PS1 or 2, but maybe emulating PS1 version of BO after SR1 is not such a bad idea :)

It is pretty much like steam achievements, for games that have achievements that is (List of games available here)

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by 'administrate such additions', but if you ask who can create achievements, I think developers are the one responsible for that.

No, I'm just saying that I will update my thread, that's all. And unfortunately it will have to wait longer than that.

Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2 (2002)
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver (1999)
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2 (2001)
Legacy of Kain: Defiance (2003-2004)

All of the installments are ported for PC.
